At Rebuild Black Mountain, we believe recovery is more than just addressing the immediate aftermath of a disaster—it’s about building a strong foundation for the future. Our Rebuild Black Mountain Resilience Fund with the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, is focused on the long-term recovery, sustainability, and economic growth across Western North Carolina, including Black Mountain, Montreat, and the surrounding region.

Our mission is to create lasting solutions. By rebuilding vital outdoor recreation infrastructure throughout Western North Carolina, we are investing in the region’s long-term economic recovery, ensuring that communities can thrive for generations. Outdoor tourism is essential to the local economy, accounting for 20% of Buncombe County’s economy and supporting 14% of jobs. Restoring the outdoor spaces that attract visitors and sustain businesses is critical to revitalizing the entire region’s economy.

Why Your Support Matters:

Outdoor recreation is the backbone of Western North Carolina’s economy. Our trails, parks, and public spaces are not only beloved by residents and visitors, but they also play a vital role in supporting small businesses and local families dependent on tourism. Without restoring these spaces, the broader economic recovery of the region is at risk.

Your donation is an investment in the future of Western North Carolina. It will help rebuild the outdoor experiences that make Black Mountain, Montreat, and surrounding areas such cherished destinations. As tourism is crucial to the local economy, your support is essential to ensuring that communities and businesses can flourish once again.

How We are Different:

We are a local-led effort focused on long-term recovery, not just temporary relief. At the core of our mission is transparency—we promise to provide clear, detailed updates on where donations are going and how they are making an impact. Our approach is collaborative, ensuring that our goals evolve based on community feedback and priorities.

We are proud to partner with the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC), a trusted nonprofit with over 46 years of service in the region. Rebuilding happens at the speed of trust, and CFWNC has earned ours through their deep commitment to Western North Carolina. While organizations like FEMA provide critical emergency assistance, we focus on community-driven solutions that foster long-term resilience.

We are committed to working alongside government agencies, nonprofits, and local organizations to ensure that every dollar raised is used effectively to fill critical funding gaps. Guided by needs assessments and a strategic framework, we align our efforts with the long-term recovery goals of Western North Carolina.

By working together, we ensure resources are directed where they are most needed, building on the foundation laid by emergency response efforts. This collaborative approach allows us to target key funding gaps and contribute to the sustainable recovery and long-term resilience of Western North Carolina.
