At Rebuild Black Mountain, we believe that recovery goes beyond restoring what was lost—it’s about building a stronger, more resilient future for Western North Carolina (WNC).

Our mission focuses on long-term recovery, creating a sustainable foundation for our community to thrive economically, socially, and environmentally for generations to come.

By rebuilding outdoor infrastructure—the backbone of the local economy and community health—we are investing in the long-term resilience of Western North Carolina and its people. Whether it’s through revitalizing trails, rivers, parks, or public spaces, outdoor recreation is critical for economic recovery in this region.

We invite you to be part of this vital effort:

Tourism plays an essential role in Western North Carolina’s economy, contributing 20% to Buncombe County’s overall economic activity and supporting 14% of local jobs. Visitors come to WNC to experience its trails, rivers, parks, and natural beauty. Restoring these outdoor spaces is key to reviving the tourism industry and ensuring the broader economic recovery of families, businesses, and communities throughout the region.

Without restoring the outdoor spaces that attract visitors and sustain local businesses, the full economic recovery of WNC cannot be achieved.

Our Mission:

At Rebuild Black Mountain, we are focused on more than just short-term recovery. We are committed to working in close partnership with government agencies, nonprofits, and local organizations to ensure that every dollar raised makes the biggest possible impact.

This collaborative approach builds on the emergency response efforts, ensuring that our recovery work is complementary, efficient, and focused on the areas that will create the most long-term benefits for Western North Carolina.

Our Goals:

Economic Recovery through Outdoor Recreation

Sustainability for Future Generations
